This week was good!
This week was actually filled with a lot of service! On Tuesday, we went over to Salvation Army and helped them hand out food! So that was a lot of fun! On Saturday, the zoo here in Fresno was doing a "Breakfast with the Animals" event where people could just go have breakfast at the zoo. We also volunteered to do that which was great! We didn't really get to see the animals but we got to help out so that was good! We've been really trying to do a lot of service. They are asking us to do 10 hours of service a week. It's going to take a lot of getting used to, but little by little we are getting there.
We were also able to help the Young Womens on Saturday. They have to raise money to go to camp so they've been doing a lot of fundraisers. On Saturday, they had a Zumba night! It was a lot of fun! Obviously we just watched, we did not dance. They asked us to help sell water and fruit! I am so thankful for the Young Women program. That is one thing that truly changed my life. I am also very thankful for all the Young Women leaders that I had. They truly changed my life. We have been doing a lot of service lately, and I know that the Lord has blessed us because of that. We were able to teach more people this week.
Because last week was General Conference, we had testimony meeting this past Sunday. While we were sitting there listening to testimonies, an Hermano got up and started bearing his testimony about Joseph Smith. Throughout the week Sister Simonsen and I were also talking about our favorite Prophets and I came to realize that Joseph Smith probably is one of my favorite prophets. All the trials that he went through just strengthen my testimony of the truthfulness of this gospel. I know that he really truly is a prophet.
People may think that we are crazy for believing a 14 year old, but if you really think about it...why would Heavenly Father call an old man? No offense to older people, but usually older people are more set in their ways...They have had more time for pride to kick in. Children are more humble. They are receptive to the spirit. It doesn't surprise me that Heavenly Father called a 14 year old to restore this Gospel. I know that Joseph Smith truly was called from our Heavenly Father. I know this church is true and I know that The Book of Mormon is true. And I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
Love,
Hermana Ramos-Escobar
